Summary
Customers who trade-in eligible pre-loved headphones or earbuds from selected brands for recycling, are eligible to receive a unique, limited time use Sony online store discount coupon of up to $50.00, which is valid for use on eligible Sony headphones or earbuds at Sony Store online. The coupon value, of up to $50, will depend on the eligible Sony headphones or earbuds purchased. Coupon is valid for 1 month from time of issue. See here for full list of (1) eligible pre-loved products accepted for trade in, (2) eligible products available for purchase with the coupon and (3) the value of the coupon depending on the eligible product available for purchase. Sony has partnered with The Activ Group Solutions Pty Ltd trading as Ecoactiv, who will organise the return process, logistics, recycling and waste disposal of the pre-loved headphones/earbuds on Sony’s behalf.
The coupon(s) will be issued by Ecoactiv within 3 business days after the eligible pre-loved headphone(s) arrive.
Customers must comply with these terms and conditions to be eligible for a coupon. These terms and conditions set out key dates (including commencement and termination of this Program), eligibility criteria to participate in the Program, and conditions applying to use of the coupons.

Disclosure notice in accordance with section 47A of the Fair Trading Act 1987 (NSW)
These promotional terms are important, and you should read them fully. However, there are some specific terms we wanted to make you aware of. These are set out below:
• Program is subject to change or cancellation without prior notice (see clause 16): Where this occurs, Sony will honour orders and discount coupons issued to customers who have already posted their pre-loved headphones or earbuds prior to the change or cancellation coming into effect.
• Sony’s limitation of liability (see clause 20): To the extent permitted by applicable law and subject always to the Non Excludable Guarantees, Sony will not be liable to you in any way for any cause in connection with this Program and our liability to you will be limited as set out in clauses 19 and 20 of these terms and conditions.
• As the Promotion is offered as a benefit to You and Sony cannot reasonably extend the Promotion to every type and kind of electronic product being recycled, You will not qualify for receiving a discount coupon if You recycle an Ineligible Product with Ecoactiv.
Promoter
1. The Promoter is Sony Australia Limited (ABN 59 001 215 354) of Level 7, 73 Miller Street, North Sydney NSW 2060 (Sony, Promoter, we, us or our) Sony has partnered with Ecoactiv to help administer the Program..
Program
2. Instructions on how You can participate in the Sony Recycle. Receive Program (“Program”) and be eligible to receive a discount coupon form part of these terms and conditions (“Terms”). Your participation in the Program is deemed acceptance of these Terms.
3. Eligible Participants who:
(a) submit a trade-in request for an Eligible Pre-loved Product on or after the Commencement Date;
(b) nominate the Eligible Sony Store Headphones and Earbud Product they propose to purchase (this can be updated later at checkout when purchasing at Sony Online Store, and the Coupon Amount will be updated to reflect the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product purchased);
(c) post back their Eligible Pre-loved Product for recycling in accordance with the directions from EcoActiv; and
(d) otherwise comply with these Terms,
will be eligible to receive a Sony Online store discount coupon from Ecoactiv subject to these Terms (and in particular, the terms under the sections Coupon terms)
4. The Promotion commences on the Commencement Date.
5. For the purposes of these Terms:
(a) “Business Day” means any day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday in New South Wales.
(b) “Commencement Date” means 7 October 2026.
(c) “Coupon(s)” means the unique discount coupon code(s) issued by Ecoactiv under this Program, which can be used for the relevant Coupon Amount according to the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product purchased, for use at Sony Store Online, subject to these Terms;
(d) “Coupon amount” means the value of the Coupon according to the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product an Eligible Participant wishes to purchase from Sony Online Store, as listed at the Website and updated from time to time in accordance with clause 13;
(e) “Coupon Validity Period” means the period that the Coupon can be used for from the date of issue, as listed at the Website and updated from time to time in accordance with clause 13;
(f) “Ecoactiv” means The Activ Group Solutions Pty Ltd and its related bodies corporate and subsidiaries from time to time;.
(g) “Ecoactiv Website” means Ecoactiv’s website for conducting the Program located at http://sonytradein.ecoactiv.com
(h) “Eligible Participant” has the meaning given to this term in clause 6.
(i) “Eligible Pre-Loved Product”means the headphone and earbud products from selected brands that are eligible to participate in the Program as listed at the Website and updated from time to time in accordance with clause 13;
(j) “Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Products” means those products listed at the Website which an Eligible Participant can purchase with their Coupon, applying the Coupon Amount, from Sony Online Store.
(k) “Ineligible Product” means any product that is not included as an Eligible Pre-Loved Product;
(l) “Program” means the Recycle.Receive program as described in these Terms;
(m) “Sony Online Store” means Sony’s online store located at http://www.sony.com.au or http://store.sony.com.au;
(n) “Terms” means these terms and conditions; and;
(o) “You or Your” is a reference to the person who participates in the Program as an Eligible Participant; and
(p) “Website” means http://store.sony.com.au/camera-tradein.html; and
(q) “$is a reference to Australian Dollars (AUD);
(r) “r. the singular includes the plural and vice versa.
Eligibility to be an Eligible Participant
6. To be eligible to participate in the Promotion, You must, on or after the Commencement Date:
(a) be an Australian resident with an Australian residential address;
(b) be aged 18 years and older. If You are under 18 years old, You must have parental/guardian approval to participate in this Program and Your parent/guardian must read and consent to these Terms; and
(c) submit a trade-in request for an Eligible Pre-Loved Product at the EcoActiv Website;
(d) nominate the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product You propose to purchase with Your Coupon (You can update your selection later when purchasing at Sony Online Store, and the Coupon Amount will be updated to reflect the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product purchased); :
(e) post your Eligible Pre-Loved Product in accordance with the instructions provided by EcoActiv;
(f) have not utilised the program in the past 30 Business Days at the time of submitting a trade in request under 6.c; and
(g) otherwise complied with these Terms.
7. You can only participate in the Program in your own name (or nickname if chosen). We reserve the right, at any time, to verify the validity of Your eligibility to participate in the Program (including identity, age and place of residence) and reserve the right, acting reasonably in our sole discretion, to revoke Your eligibility if we have reason to believe you have provided false or fraudulent information.
8. If there is a dispute as to the identity of an Eligible Participant, Sony reserves the right, in its sole discretion (acting reasonably), to determine the identity of the Eligible Participant.
9. Failure by Sony to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. Sony reserves its legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender.
10. You can only submit one trade-in request within the period of 30 business days. If multiple requests have been submitted, only one request will be processed.
11. Coupons are issued per trade in (maximum one trade-in per 30 Business Days) and not per Eligible Pre-Loved Product. Example: if five (5) Eligible Pre-Loved Products are submitted for trade in at the same time, only one (1) Coupon will be issued
12. As the Promotion is offered as a benefit to You and Sony cannot reasonably extend the Promotion to every type and kind of electronic product being recycled, You will not qualify for receiving a Coupon if You recycle an Ineligible Product with Ecoactiv.
Updates to Eligible Pre-Loved Products, Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbuds Products, Coupon Amounts and Coupon Validity Periods
13. Sony reserves the right to update or vary: (a) the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbuds Products; and/or
(b) the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbuds Products; and/or
(c) the Coupon Amounts; and/or
(d) the Coupon Validity Period;
at its sole discretion and without prior notice to You by updates made on the Website. Where changes are made to any of the above, the changes will not apply to any Eligible Pre-Loved Products already submitted for a trade-in (and the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbuds Products, Coupon Amounts and/or Coupon Validity Period applicable to those Eligible Pre-Loved Products’ trade-ins when the trade in was initiated). The changes will only apply to Eligible Pre-Loved Product trade-ins initiated from the next Business Day after the change takes effect.
Coupon Terms
14. The following terms apply to Coupon(s) issued to Eligible Participants who comply with these Terms:. (a) Coupons are valid for the Coupon Validity Period
(b) coupons are redeemable on the Eligible Sony Store Headphones and Earbud Products available for sale at Sony Online Store, subject to the following conditions:
(i) Coupons cannot be combined with staff pricing, partner pricing, ambassador pricing and other special pricing offered by the Sony customer service team;
(ii) if You selected a certain Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product at time of trade in but wish to purchase a different one using the Coupon, you may do so, and your unique Coupon will be updated for the new Coupon Amount for the Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product you wish to purchase. Coupon Amount is automatically updated at cart for the relevant Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Product chosen;
(iii) Subject to your rights under the Non-Excludable Guarantees (see clause 19), Coupons are non-refundable once used. If an order is placed and then cancelled, the Coupon value will not be reinstated;
(iv) Coupons can be applied to pre-order and back order products that are Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Products;
(v) Coupons are redeemable exclusively through the Sony Online Store; and
(vi) Coupons can only be used once and must be applied in a single transaction that is equal to or over the value of the Coupon amount.
6. Coupon is for use by the Eligible Participant only in accordance with these Terms. Any other use, including but not limited to sharing the code externally with other person(s) personally or on any website, may result in the Coupon being cancelled. Sony also reserves the right:
(a) to not issue a Coupon where it has reasonable evidence to suspect that an Eligible Participant will not return their Eligible Pre-Loved Product to EcoActiv or are engaging in fraud or other conduct which adversely affects the administration, security, fairness or integrity of this Program; and/or
(b) to cancel a Coupon after being issued, but prior to use, where it has reasonable evidence that an Eligible Participant, allowing for a reasonable time period, has not returned their Eligible Pre-Loved Product to EcoActiv.
Termination, Modification and Suspension of the Program
16. Sony reserves the right to change or cancel this Program at its discretion without prior notice. Changes to or cancelling this Program will not affect any trade-ins where the Eligible Pre-Loved Product has been submitted for trade-in in accordance with clause 3.a.
17. In the event of:
(a) any factors outside Sony’s control which prevent this Program from running as planned;
(b) the Program is interfered with in any way outside of Sony’s control; or
(c) the Program is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Sony,
then Sony reserves the right to immediately cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Program. For the purposes of this clause such matters outside Sony’s control include but are not limited to pandemic, terrorism, state of emergency, computer virus or hacking, unauthorized intervention or fraud, or any other technical difficulties or equipment malfunction which adversely affects the administration, security, fairness or integrity of this Program.
General
18. Any costs associated with accessing any of the required websites set out in these Terms remain the responsibility of each Eligible Participant and are dependent on the internet service provider used.
19. Nothing in these Terms limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees set out in Schedule 2 – Australian Consumer Law of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (“CCA”), as well as any other implied warranties under the Australian Securities and Investments Act 2001 (Cth) or similar consumer protection laws (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). If the CCA or any other legislation implies a condition, warranty or term into the Terms, Sony’s liability for breach of such condition, warranty, or other term or guarantee is limited to the extent permitted by law
20. exceppt for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non Excludable Guarantees, Sony (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Program, including, but not limited to, where arising out of: (a) any technical difficulties; (b) any theft, unauthorized access or third-party interference; (c) any tax liability incurred by a participant; or (d) use or non-use of any Coupon.
21. Except in the case of the process for changes to the Eligible Pre-Loved Products, Eligible Sony Store Headphone and Earbud Products, Coupon Amounts and/or Coupon Validity Period (clause 13), Sony may vary these Terms from time to time in its discretion. Where this involves a material change and/or it will have a significant impact upon You, Sony will use its reasonable endeavours to provide You with prior reasonable notice of these changes at the Website. In some limited cases, Sony may not be able to provide such notice where Sony needs to amend the Terms immediately. For example, where (a) Sony is required by law to do so; (b) due to unexpected or operational issues beyond Sony’s reasonable control or (c) where it is reasonably necessary to protect Sony’s infrastructure, systems, data, security or assets and/or your personal information (for example where the Website and/or the Program is subject to a cyber incident or other unauthorised access).
22. These Terms are governed by and will be construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW and the Commonwealth with respect to any action or other legal process with respect to any matter in connection with these Terms.
